One of the keys to really improve your nutrition is to decrease your intake of sugar, especially added sugar. This is the sugar that does not exist naturally in the food you eat, such as refined sugar, sugar found in soft drinks, and anything with high fructose corn syrup.

But a recent article from the authority site Healthy Holistic Living hasshed some new light on just how detrimental and damaging added sugar really is. There is also a bit of a history lesson within the article. Below is an excerpt of the article.

Basically, the year 1977 was the beginning of a movement to markedly increase the amount of added sugar Americans via the “fat free food” movement. Virtually all processed foods have formidable amounts of sugar in them, especially fast foods. Added HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) is found in most frozen TV dinners and even some “health foods”. High consumption of sugar is linked to the onset of diabetes and heart disease, as the increased amounts of sugar in the blood stream cause an imbalance in the body’s ability to process the sugar in the system.
